Iconic Pop singer David Bowie died on Sunday. He died two days after his birthday when his new album "Blackstar" was released. He was fighting against cancer for the last 18 months. His official website mentioned it as "a courageous 18-month battle with cancer”.
Posted on his social networking site "David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family," the site said. "While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy during their time of grief."
David Bowie's son Duncan Jones confirmed the news by tweeting
Space Oddity released in 1969 was his first album. His hits include "Space Oddity", "Rebel Rebel", "Heroes", "Life on Mars" etc.
